Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons receive extensive training in both inpatient and outpatient anesthesia. This training allows the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to administer various types of anesthesia, ranging from local anesthesia (when the patient remains awake), to minimal sedations, moderate sedations, and general anesthesia in their clinic/office. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon will meet with the patient for a consultation and will discuss the recommended treatment options as well as the anesthesia technique best suited for each patient.
