Pre-Prosthetic Surgery

Pre-prosthetic surgery is any surgical procedure that is done in preparation for the delivery of a partial or permanent denture.  This can include the removal of excess bone, removal of excess gum tissue, leveling of a bony ridge, or reshaping of rough bony projections that may arise after extraction of non-restorable teeth.  To allow the partial or full denture to fit properly and create optimal stability, pre-prosthetic surgery may be indicated.
